Hong Kong, as a territory adjacent to China, has the preponderating economic interests in China of the British Colonial territories in the Far East. They are:

The re-establishment of Hong Kong as the main trade channel between South China and the rest of the world and the general resumption of trade, including imports of food and firewood from China and exports of articles manufactured in Hong Kong, with the minimum restrictions on all imports and exports by Chinese customs and tariffs.
The re-establishment of the through railway to Canton and Hankow; of shipping to Canton, to other coastal ports and to up river ports; and of satisfactory air communications with China.
The establishment of sound relations between Hong Kong and Chinese currency and the continued tolerance of the circulation of Hong Kong currency in China.
The re-establishment of Hong Kong banking branches in China.
